The newly installed fountain at a round-about located in the Alagbaka area of Akure, Ondo State capital city, has automatically become the latest attraction for the people of the town as there is almost no time of the day that you won’t find one or two persons posing for photo shoots at the fountain.
It was even noted that some people come from the farthest outskirts of the town in their most elegant clothes just to take photos at the site. It is also very interesting to observe that local photographers have therefore started making a business out of the opportunity by standing-by to service interested visitors.
Every Saturday evening since the completion of the fountain, various pier groups, families etc. are spotted sitting along the fringes of the fountain, savouring the fresh air, cool, damp breeze as well as the thrill of being safely encircled by a continuous traffic of humming vehicles.
This invariably typifies the innate ‘hunger’ of the average Nigerian to fraternize with recreational structures. It depicts the unexploited and ripened potential local tourism market locked up within the country.
The creative rimming of the fountain bowl with a shroud of low carpet grasses which grades into an outer rim of pinkish concrete tiles, gives the round-about its overall aesthetic value, and its openness to human access automatically completes its touristic potential.
With this interesting response from the Akure people, it is therefore imperative for the government and private individuals to intelligently take advantage of this wonderful opportunity to invest in the construction of recreation parks within the Akure metropolis as well as other populated towns within the country. A small zoo, amusement park, golf course, fruit or flower garden or just a few plots of well-mowed grassland with a fence of picturesque trees, will go a long way in fetching the investor a continuous flow of revenue for a life time.
If you’re one of those Nigerians with funds locked up in Banks, wondering where to invest your money, here is a viable investment platform for you. Don’t hesitate, it’ll definitely pay off.

my oga, au far? when the design was on-going, i laughed at the project that it will be a waste of time especially with the way contract figures were being manipulated… but when the project came to reality, I was amazed with the multitude of people trooping to the location. Also work is going on at Idanre Golf Course; the Honourable commissioner said there will be a tounament alongside Mare festival (the Mountain climbing festival) by the end of this year at Idanre.
@ cornelius Ibukunoluwa…it’s quite interesting to know that the project was still a success despite the intrusion of the funny ‘naija poilitical challenges’…glad to hear about the progress on the golf course…guess this year’s Mare Festival will even be more amazing than that of last year….thanks for the note
