I have heared about this before
I first saw this same story in febraury on http://wp.me/p1gRwE-8Z and I heared recently that the crocodile (not a manitor lizard) in the ajah estate is showing more appearances these days and getting people in the area scared… You can watch a video (link on the webpage above) of what this kind of ‘unsafe condition’ caused somewhere in Kenya…something has to be done about this before lives are lost.

Joblesness
Bunch of idiots. i see crocodiles often in the channel behind my house in Lekki. Solution, i don’t mess around the channel or allow my kids to go there. People live with Crocodiles in Australia, Alligators in Florida etc… unless they become a nuisance (attack people) live and let live. You can’t even get a picture of the darn croc. The Crocs in Lekki and surrounding areas are not even big enough to attack people. Also, it is not NCF’s job to chase errant crocs. if you jokers have a problem with the croc get a gun and shoot it. don’t try and turn NCF into the bad guy, do something unNigerian, take responsibility for your own life’s

We do not have a government
First, it is the people that have encroached on the crocodile’s space. Poor thing is only trying to survive among humans, since in Nigeria, we build everywhere.
Regarding the other issue, it would be surprising to most of us if the Nigerian Conservation Foundation (NCF)should respond to your request for help. Didn’t you know we have a non-functioning government. They only exist in name. They will only respond if there is bribe to be taken or when a little child has been dragged into the lake or someone looses an arm or a leg. Then they will blame it on the devil or God’s wish. How busy can the Director of Technical Program be to do his job? Shame Shame Shame!!

Handle with Caution
As an experienced Dangerous Game hunter who has had to to take care of Dangerous Animals in Nigeria and Southern Africa, let me sound a note of warning about this particular situation.
1:The habitat described above looks likely to contain other Dangerous Reptiles like Cobras, Pythons and other Larger Crocodiles.
2:Any Crocodile over 8 ft long will kill a human being by drowning. If there are Dogs and other small mammals in the vicinity, they must be in danger from this Crocodile.Saddly, crocodile’s are ruthlessly efficient tidy killers. They leave no trace of their deadly activities when they kill.A 37 mile stretch of river Zambezi lost 79 Humans in 1 year alone, not 1 of those humans has a grave only abandoned shoes at the river bank or floating buckets were left behind.
Suggestions
A:An attempt should be made to capture this Crocodile.
B:Failing this , it should be dispatched with a scoped small caliber rifle in the hands of an expert marksman using a soft poilt light 60 grain roundnosed bullet.Solid bullets cannot be used in this environment as the solid bullet will ricochet and can cause problems well beyond the intended target.
CAUTION
